What is a beta reader?

A beta reader is a test reader for an unreleased work of literature. You are my test audience, similar to a test screening for a new movie.

You do not need to be a professional writer, editor, or critic. In fact, I prefer that you aren't! I am purely looking for the perspective of an average, avid reader who loves the genre.

What is Expected of You?

Beta reading is not about looking for typos or reviewing a finished product—it is about sharing your real-time experience reading the story. Your experience is purely subjective, so there are no right or wrong answers.When reading my upcoming manuscript, I will ask you to flag things like:

• Emotional Impact: Did a scene make you happy, sad, excited, or bored?
• Pacing: Did certain section feel fast and thrilling, or did the story feel slow and choppy? Did it feel rushed?
• Clarity: Did a plot point confuse you, or did something feel inconsistent?
• Characters: Who did you love, and who did you hate?

How It Works

If selected, you will receive access to a private, secure folder on Google Drive shared only between you and me. You will read the draft and insert direct comments highlighting your thoughts as you go. No other readers will see your feedback, allowing you to share your thoughts completely honestly.
